POETRY > Sonnet 7 - left the left (Shakespearean sonnet)
left the left (Shakespearean sonnet)
I want to know if those who fought j.c.
behind the times paywall, berger and mann
can now relax because apparently
five thousand far-right joined the tories,* and
this land loud with racism deniers
with heads in sand fills me with lumpen rage
at the violence from the lectern liars
“Just don't engage, don't engage, don't engage!”
my boyfriend sings. I think of those we’ve cursed
with landlessness, like palestinians..
“zionism needs repatriation!”
“shun unchristian migrants!” screams britain first.
Land, lives and minds are lost in this world theft
there’s silence on race now they've left the left!
