Tiny Worlds
Five vividly hued planets (red, blue, orange, green and purple) and nestled in ornate, comfortable pockets of beautiful black mystery. Gold leaf-shaped metal beings dance around. Bodies of night wind, bodies and ice mists are in deep conversation.
The red, orange and purple planets are egg-shaped, which adds to the symbolism of rebirth, potential and creativity.
INSPIRATION:
I have been researching steampunk art (which I like but have been nervous of as I tend to draw organic shapes more than machines) but by adding the (gold) metallic elements which look slightly like cogs, and exploring both delicate textures and broader shapes, I am pleased that a dynamic and gothic image has emerged.
The image is dedicated to my artist friend, Fimi with whom I have had many interesting conversations about adornment, presence and creative processes.
POEM: After creating the image, I wrote this poem. I will be sharing in due course about my recent literary inspirations. If you follow my work, you may have an idea which author/work inspired this.
SEEKING AND BEING
In presence I am powers that were hidden from me
In dreams I remember more than I forget
In breath I am a spiral through which the stories pass
From the sea of sadnesses my skin shines with knowledge
One with green leafy silence I am a listener
One with luminous skies I am contentment
Between mysteries, I belong with the wisdom of questions
I wander through walls as fearless as the wind
From space, my song is heard by curious, distant dusts
