The Mollusc Dimension is an escaped Classical pianist, prolific artist of small forms, songwriter and composer. He is transqueerian, British-born Chinese, Generation X - a set of identities which have led to decades of guilt for merely existing and a sense of shame in daring to take up space.

Yet, as a multi-hyphenate artist, auteur and traumas-survivor, he decided it IS time to offer his personal stories, music, art and entertainingly outspoken perspectives to a wider audience.

In 2021, he was awarded Arts Council Funding to make a music video for his track, Asians Have Feelings Too, premiering at his debut solo show at Rich Mix, London. The project was produced by Tuyết Vân Huỳnh with a largely East and Southeast Asian and LGBTIQA+ creative team.

His portfolio spans comics, zines, improv comedy, poetry, DIY video-making, community/public initiatives and over 1.5 decades of teaching experience. Since 2007, his creative work has toured the UK and been screened/performed in Europe, the US, Asia and Australia. He believes that decolonising education, intersectional feminism and trans rights have crucial benefits for people of all backgrounds and ages.

The Mollusc Dimension has been platformed by: besea.n, Beanpig Puppets, Chinese Arts Now, Comediasians, ESEA Sisters, FOC it up Comedy, Out on the Page, Queer China UK, She Her They Them, Trans Pride Brighton, We are Double Okay amongst others. A neurodivergent barrel of squids, he proliferates surviveries ranging from stand-up comedy to DIY queer music and elegiac, enchanting piano pieces.

In 2022, he created "Asians Have Feelings Too" (directed with Darius Shu) - an award-winning, #StopAsianHate and LGBTIQA+ powered, Arts Council-funded music video, which has screened in the UK, Europe and the US. Simultaneously, he released his tragi-vibrant debut poetry collection, "I just want you to know I exist". which explores grief, family, empire, gender (= work), relationships and being.

As well as holding an MA in Illustration and Animation from Kingston University, an English Literature Degree from York University, and an LTCL in Piano Performance, The Mollusc Dimension spent many hours self-learning music and graphics programming skills.

A child of immigrants, he hopes his efforts will encourage others of others to explore creativity for their mental health and emotional processing - especially people who are underrepresented in the arts, including the children of immigrants.
